Meet your guide and group at our office. Quick briefing, permit check, and gear review. We will tell you honestly if you need anything else. Dinner at a local Nepali restaurant (not a tourist trap in Thamel).

Day 2

Day 2: Fly to Lukla — Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

Early morning flight to Lukla (2,840m). The flight is spectacular. Begin the gentle trek to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi river. Walking time: 3-4 hours. Easy first day.

Day 3

Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Follow the river valley, crossing suspension bridges. Steep climb to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital. First glimpse of Everest on a clear day. Walking time: 5-6 hours.

Day 4

Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche

Critical rest day. Your body needs time to adjust to 3,440m. Explore Namche's market, visit the Sherpa Museum, or hike to the Everest View Hotel viewpoint. Free day — no rush.

Day 5

The big day. Trek to Gorak Shep (5,164m), drop bags, push to Everest Base Camp. Stand where legends have stood. The Khumbu Icefall towers above. Walking time: 7-8 hours total.

Day 10

Day 10: Kala Patthar Sunrise (5,545m) — Descend to Pheriche (4,240m)

Budget Everest Base Camp Trek — Frequently Asked Questions

How is this $750 when other companies charge $1,200-$1,500?
Simple: we have no expensive Thamel office ($0 rent — we operate from a local office), no booking platform commissions (you book directly with us), no marketing budget ($0 on Instagram/Facebook ads — we grow by word of mouth and honest reviews), and no unnecessary profit margin (our guides and porters are paid the same fair wages as luxury operators). The mountain experience is identical. The only difference is you keep $450-750 in your pocket.
What is NOT included in the $750?
The $750 covers everything on the mountain. NOT included: international flights to Kathmandu, travel insurance (mandatory — must cover helicopter evacuation up to 6,000m), personal gear (sleeping bag, jacket, boots — can be rented in Kathmandu for $2-5/day each), drinks and snacks beyond standard meals, hot showers at teahouses (₩300-500 per shower), WiFi at teahouses (₩300-500), and tips for guide and porter (customary — $50-100 total is appreciated).
Is this trek safe at this price?
Yes. Safety is the one area where we never cut costs. Our guides are certified and experienced. We carry pulse oximeters and first aid kits. Our acclimatization schedule follows standard protocol (two rest days). We have emergency evacuation procedures. The lower price comes from operational efficiency, not safety shortcuts. If anything, our smaller operation means your guide gives you more personal attention than a large group operator.
What is the accommodation like?
Teahouses on the EBC route are basic but functional. Below Namche: private rooms with twin beds, shared bathrooms (usually Western toilets), common dining area. Above Namche: rooms get simpler — thin walls, squat toilets, no heating (bring a warm sleeping bag). At Gorak Shep: very basic. This is the reality of EBC at any price — luxury operators use the same teahouses. There are no 5-star hotels at 5,000m.
Do I need previous trekking experience?
Not mandatory, but recommended. EBC is a long trek at high altitude. You should be able to walk 5-7 hours on hilly terrain. We recommend at least 3 months of cardio training: running, cycling, stair climbing, or hiking with a loaded backpack. Mental preparation is equally important — there will be tough days. If you have never trekked before, consider starting with our Budget Poon Hill trek ($280, 4 days).
